Use of "Play Vehicles" (such as golf carts) on Public Highways/Roadways
According to Texas State Law (Transportation Safety Code 551.404), a municipality may allow an operator to operate a golf cart on all or part of a public highway that: (1) is in the corporate boundaries of the municipality; and (2) has a posted speed limit of not more than 35 MPH.
A golf cart operated on a public roadway must have the following equipment: -headlamps -taillamps -reflectors -parking brake -mirrors -slow moving vehicle emblem
Without required equipment, your golf cart may not be operated on any roadways, and if you are found to be doing do, you may be issued a citation.
Please adhere to these requirements if you plan on using your vehicle on the roadway. Our goal is to maintain a safe environment for all of our citizens.
