Certificate of Occupancy Application Form

2018 IBC Section 111 A: A building or structure shall not be used or occupied, and a change of occupancy of a building or structure or portion thereof shall not be made, until the building official has issued a certificate of occupancy.

Fees:

Administrative approval only - $50.00 (If there is an existing C of O for a building and the new certificate is only for an occupant or business classification change the application can be approved administratively; there is no need for an inspection.)

Inspection - $125.00 (Inspections are required for any building that has undergone remodel, had an addition or when there is not an existing C of O.)

The fee is due at the time the application is submitted.

A current floor plan must be submitted prior to the application being processed and any required inspection scheduled.  The floor plan can be hand drawn but must include all rooms and the measurements of each room.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Short term rentals are considered commercial enterprise and, as such, require a Certificate of Occupancy.

A Certificate of Occupancy is part of the inspection process for all new commercial construction and will be issued upon passing the final inspection.
